ITIL Foundation & Practitioner Package

The ITIL Foundation & Practitioner course package provides knowledge of the ITIL® terminology, structure, and basic concepts and comprehension of the core principles of ITIL practices for service management. The course also enables organizations and individuals to increase the value they obtain from using ITIL by offering additional practical guidance to adopt and adapt the framework to support customers.

Who should attend?

The course and examinations are suitable for:

  • Individuals who require a basic understanding of the ITIL framework and how it may be used to enhance the quality of IT service management within an organization
  • IT professionals who are working within an organization that has adopted and adapted ITIL and who need to be informed about, and thereafter contribute to, an ongoing service improvement programme
  • Individuals who require practical guidance on how to leverage Continual Service Improvement (CSI) practices to maximize the benefits of adoption and adaption of the framework
  • IT professionals working within or about to enter a service focussed environment and requiring an understanding of the concepts, processes, functions and activities involved
  • Individuals seeking the ITIL Expert Certification in IT Service Management for which this qualification can be one of the prerequisite modules


The course is delivered in accordance with an accredited course syllabus and certification process. It combines tutorials, practical exercises and is reinforced through the trainers proven implementation track record.

Course Content

The course will cover:

Foundation Overview

A foundation overview of service management as a practice, The ITIL service lifecycle, generic concepts and definitions, key principles and models, processes, functions, roles and technology and architecture.

ITIL CSI Approach

ITIL Practitioner covers the Continual Service Improvement (CSI) approach as the way to structure any improvement initiatives.

The 3 crucial areas of success of any improvement initiatives

ITIL Practitioner also covers three key areas that are crucial to the success of any improvement initiative, namely; Organizational Change Management, Communication and Measurement and Metrics.

Delegates will be issued with course workbooks, in-course hand-outs, practical assignments and other relevant material.


Delegates may wish to take both the Internationally recognised ITIL Foundation and the ITIL Practitioner examinations.

The Foundation qualification is based on a 1-hour closed-book examination of 40 multiple choice questions. For delegates attending Classroom based training, the examination takes place on the final day of the course at our training centre. Successful delegates will be awarded the ITIL Foundation Certificate in IT Service Management. The qualification is a mandatory pre-requisite for ITIL practitioner and intermediate qualifications and counts 2 credits towards the ITIL Expert Certification.

The Practitioner examination duration is 1 hour and 45 minutes. The examination is open book, i.e. the ITIL™ Practitioner Best Practice publication is allowed for reference during the examination. The examination is based on a scenario that the candidates will be familiar with from the course and sample papers. Multiple Choice Questions(MCQs) are set based on the context provided by additional information given in the examination. Candidates are expected to achieve a score of 70%, i.e. 28 marks or higher, in order to pass the examination. Successful candidates who pass the ITIL Practitioner Exam receive 3 credits towards the ITIL Expert Certification. Please Note that the ITIL Practitioner qualification is NOT a pre-requisite to attend and write ITIL Intermediate qualifications.
